Wow, it seems crazy that we have been on our mission over six months already, with less than a year to go. The time has truly passed quickly. There is probably a life lesson in that for all of us ; )
So where do I start, it has also been over six weeks since the last Blog post. So much for the resolution of writing at least every two weeks this year.
Well the "cool" period has come and gone, it lasted about a week and a half ; ) Now we are back to sweating with any physical exertion. Oh well, paradise comes with a price. You can't have fresh tropical fruit all year long if there is not plenty of sunshine and warmth. The advertisements for Huatulco say that there are 345 days of sunshine here a year.
Hermana DeWolf has really grown in her language abilities and unfortunately Elder DeWolf is not progressing as fast as either of us had expected or hoped. Oh well looks like he will need to just buckle down and study more on a regular basis and quit just expecting the "gift of tongues" to flood his brain with language skills. Dang where is a good Vulcan mind meld when you need one?
We had the Temple Missionaries from Oaxaca come and visit while the temple was closed for two weeks for cleaning. They were here during the "cool" week. Highs in the low 80's and lows in the high 60's with lower than average humidity. We were able to take a tour of the bays and catch a few Black Tuna and then do a little snorkeling. Here are a couple of pictures of the adventure.
We are really bonding with people here and every time there is a change with the young missionaries it is very difficult. This week we had an Elder and an Hermana transfer to different parts of the mission and once again Hermana DeWolf cried, Elder DeWolf has vowed to not cry ; )
We have genuinely grown to love people here in Huatulco and I am certain that when we get in our car to leave next year that there will be many tears shed as we drive the 6 hours to Oaxaca to catch our plane home. This is a place I am sure we will visit many times in the future. Well enough of looking that far ahead. As we have tried to preach many times, stay present and enjoy the moment you are in.
Elder DeWolf has found a group of people to play basketball with for exercise during the week and many of them are from the Jehovah's Witness congregation here in Huatulco.
We have had many fantastic bonding experiences and have come to realize that we are all fighting the same fight. When we bicker and find fault in one another as Christians it does not help to spread the Light of Christ here on the earth, in fact the Devil laughs when he sees Christians bickering and finding fault with each other.
So as Christians, let's all join together in the fight against evil and practice Christ Like Love. As a very wise man once asked me, "If you were on trial for being a Christian, could they convict you on circumstantial evidence?"
From here in beautiful Huatulco to the entire world we would like to share our testimony that we know that Jesus lives and is our Savior and it is only through him that we can return to live with our Father in Heaven.
God Bless All of you in your endeavors, let your light shine !!!!
Love,
Elder and Hermana DeWolf
